The Thompson Rivers University Students’ Union serves in large part to advocate for the interests of our members, on issues like tuition fees, transit service, and gender and racial equality. In order to be effective, the Students’ Union meets with government officials at all levels and mobilizes members like you to demonstrate through petitions and rallies that we are firmly committed to our principles and goals. However, the Students’ Union also recognizes that being well informed and able to support our arguments is vital to winning in our common struggles. That is why we regularly commission and engage in well-grounded and thorough research.
TRUSU commissions established research and polling agencies to gauge public opinion on a variety of issues. This research helps us to mould our campaigns to best communicate our goals in the broader community.
TRUSU also commissions research to be conducted by our members. This research helps to dig deeper into the particular way in which issues manifest themselves on our campus. It may also help to identify the ways in which our services can be improved to reach more members, or to be more effective.
Finally, your Students’ Union officials and staff engage in research on a regular basis on the whole range of issues that arise in the ongoing operations of the Union.
Below is a collection of the research done by or on behalf of your Students’ Union. Feel free to read them all for a better understanding of the issues we face together.
